ABOUT SEMO
Southeast Missouri State University is located on a beautiful campus in Cape Girardeau, MO, a picturesque historic town located along the banks of the Mississippi River.
This will be the tenth ACE camp at SEMO, making it our longest-running location to date.
Cape Girardeau is conveniently located on I-55, between St. Louis and Memphis.

Course Offerings
There are 5 periods to each day. Periods are 60 minutes each day
EXCEPT the last day when they are 45 minutes each. Every camper takes
TWO periods of ability-grouped general practice sessions and THREE
periods of classes (one of which can be an additional subject-specific
practice session).
A complete 2009 course list can be found here. We’ll post the 2010 course offerings once staffing is finalized. Some classes will repeat from 2009, but there will be many new classes.
General Information
- Check-in for coaches and players will be on Sunday, June 20 , from 12 noon through 3:00 pm in the Towers Complex. Note: All camp staff will meet at 3 p.m. the first day of camp in camp headquarters.
- Prior to camp, each camper should complete a Health Form. This form can be printed here and mailed with your registration form/check, or turned-in at registration.
- At check-in each camper will receive several important items:
- Room assignment and key.
- Schedule of camp activities.
- Camp notebook
NOTE: All campers must leave a $50 deposit for dorm keys. The deposit will be refunded when keys are returned. Any key returned late will be considered lost and the camper will forfeit the deposit. Campers will be staying in the newly renovated South Tower. The cafeteria is conveniently located in the Towers Complex. Be prepared for typical college dorm life, including hall baths. You will need to bring your own:
- sheets (single beds only)
- pillow and pillow covering
- towels and toiletry items
- an alarm device of some sort
- an umbrella
- writing instruments (including highlighters)
- notebook paper or spiral notebook
- Dress is casual at camp functions. Shorts are the preferred dress as it is generally very hot in late June. Please be sure that your attire is appropriate.
- The dorms are supervised at night by two staff members, and an ACE director is on supervisory duty also. Please be cooperative and respectful.
- Camp check-out will be from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm on THURSDAY, JUNE 24. You will need to be out of your dorm room by 4:30 pm that afternoon.
- All meals are provided from dinner on Sunday to lunch on Thursday; however, you may wish to bring extra money for snacks, drinks, souvenirs, etc.Contact us if you require more information.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off
Parents may drop off campers beginning at 12 noon on Sunday, June 20. Registration will continue until 3:00 p.m.
Parents may pick-up campers beginning around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 24. All campers need to be out of their rooms and off campus by 4:30 p.m.
Parents who want to watch the final competition at camp should arrive by 12:00 since the subject area tournament, in which all campers participate, will begin shortly after 12:00.
Recreation
There won’t be a lot of free time, but students will have some recreational time during the dinner break (4:00-7:00 each day). There will also be an organized morning jog for campers who are interested.
The Student Rec Center will be available for camper use for $3/day. There are also racquetball courts available for $5/hour and a gym available for $10/hour.
There are outdoor basketball and volleyball courts near the dorms that can be used free of charge. If you are interested, bring your own equipment.
The dorm buildings have ping pong tables, televisions, and game rooms. The student union has pool tables for rent.

In your registration confirmation materials, you will receive a cell phone number that you can use in emergencies to contact an ACE director 24/7.

Cape Girardeau is conveniently located on I-64, between Memphis and St. Louis.

Cape Girardeau is served commercially by the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport (CGI). Memphis (MEM) and St. Louis (STL) are also reasonable alternatives that offer more flight options. ACE does not provide airport transfers, but if you are flying in to camp and need transportation to campus, BART Van Service provides transportation between STL and the SEMO campus.
