In the last few years, there’s been tremendous growth in the number of middle school quizbowl tournaments across the country, and we’ve seen this result in a significant increase in the number of middle school students at our camps. To serve this growing segment of the quizbowl population we have designed a day camp specifically for middle school players and coaches. While this camp will essentially follow the same model that we’ve used for our high school camps (classes, practices, tournaments), we have modified it slightly so that the activities and questions are appropriate for middle school students.
LOCATION
The ACE Middle School Quizbowl Day Camp will be held at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, a modern campus located in the Sandy Springs area of metro Atlanta. Because this is a day camp, we will not offer accommodations, but there are several hotels located less than a mile from the school.

SCHEDULE
At ACE we believe that every activity at our camps should help kids learn information that will help them improve as quizbowl players. Each day will run from 9:30-5:30 and will include daily practice time, class time and a tournament. Here’s a basic schedule for a typical camp day:
(9:00-9:30): Drop-off/Check-in
(9:30-10:00): Opening Meeting/Announcements
(10:15-11:00): First Practice Session
(11:15-12:15): Class
(12:15-1:10): Lunch (provided)/Recreation Time
(1:15-2:00): Second Practice Session
(2:15-4:45): Tournament
(5:00-5:30): Closing Meeting/Awards
(5:30-6:00): Pick-up

REGISTRATION
Registration is $269 and is open to any student entering grades 6-9 (2012-2013 school year). Registration includes all instruction, camp activities, and lunch and snack daily. An optional “ACE Kit” (includes a backpack, t-shirt, pens, highlighters, and a notebook) is available for $15.
While students are not required to attend camp with their coach or their teams, we encourage coaches to participate. Coaches may register at a discounted rate of $219. This includes all camp activities, daily coaching seminars, and mentoring/networking opportunities.
